About Me

Professionally…

I've spent the last decade thinking about the UX of ML-based systems. Outside of a couple years managing a design team at Meta's AI org, I've spent most of my career in early stage startups. Most often, I am the first designer on the team, where I'll work on anything in and around UX/UI, ranging from UI engineering to product roadmaps.

Prior to all this, I went to the School of Visual Arts in NYC for a MFA in Interaction Design. It was such a good time — I highly recommend it.

Outside of Work…

On the web, I'm best known for my work on R2D3, a series of data visualizations that help people understand topics in machine learning and statistics. I've also given a few talks on the intersection between design, data visualization and machine learning.

I enjoy making algorithmic art, which are often inspired by data visualizations and emergent systems. These range from plotter prints, to paper scupltures, to ceramics and …more ceramics.

I also occasionally blog — mostly about design. I've been too precious about it, so I'm going to try to write about a broader range of topics.
