Once in a while I will read an article or blog post that provide a radically new mental model for understanding the world. Today I read just such an article.

In “Welcome to the Future Nauseous” Venkat Rao posits a Manufactured Normalcy Field, which gave me a way of thinking about technological progress, and the importance of storytelling and metaphor-building in creating societal change.

I cannot do the article justice at all. If you’re curious about societal and technological change, you should just go read it.
